FOOD FOR THOUGHT

If you purchased $1,000.00 of Nortel stock three years go, it would now be worth $49.00.  With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00
 

 With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.
 

But, if you purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer three years ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the recycling REFUND, you would have $240.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.  It's called the 401- Keg Plan.

Another year is upon us. Here’s hoping that all your aches and pains are small and you take advantage of the comradery of the TOWN CRIERS in 2007.  As you can see from the list on the left, there is no reason you should forget a meeting or event. Also, let’s not forget next year’s membership dues ($40).  They should be paid by the end of January.  No dues means NO NEWSLETTER.

Speaking of NEWSLETTERS, this will be the first (January edition) WESTLAKE TOWN CRIERS NEWLETTER for 2007.  Hopefully there will be one each month and I’ll try to make them informative by including some of the topics discussed during our scheduled meetings along with other tidbits. If anyone something that they would like to include, please let me know or forward the info to the following email address: richman273@wowway.com.  I will also have the newsletter posted on our Web-Site.

NOW FOR SOME NEWS:

The Westlake Town Crier Christmas Party was a tremendous success.  There were 27 couples who participated in the gift exchange and a few more who stopped by either before or after. A BIG THANK YOU to the Hamiltons for hosting the party. For those of you that missed the event, “TOO BAD”.  (A special note to those who brought GOOD gifts, KNOCK IT OFF.) We already have a volunteer for next year although I hear that the spouse is not overjoyed.

The next get-together is our Christmas Luncheon at Dover Gardens.  It’s

December 28^th starting anytime after 1:00.  The kitchen will be open from 1:00 to 3:00. It’s always a good time, so hope to see you there.

Let’s give these men all the support they need to make 2007 another outstanding year. A special thanks to Jim Vetrovsky, our out-going President.  GREAT Job, Jim!!

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Westlake for 2007, Roger and Lollie Cooley.  As a note to the members, Jim Vetrovsky found out that Roger was one of the Town Crier founding members.

Also, congratulations are in order for Tim White, our 2006 WESTLAKE TOWN CRIER MAN of the YEAR.

A final note:  As you can see from the list of scheduled events, our first meeting next year is January 15^th.  Mark it on your calendar. Let’s start the year out right.  (Bring your dues)
