  • It is my hope that sometime early in April, a new roster of all paid members will be distributed.
  • Thanks to the chairpersons, 2 successful fund raisers were held this qtr.:
    • The 7-card stud tournament raised $1,454.00
    • The Reverse  Raffle raised $8,386.00
  • WTC Golf league is set to start April 21st with its first practice round.  If you are interested, all it will take is $75.
  • The Easter Egg Hunt was a big success. The weather was great and the turnout exceeded our expectations that we ran out of candy.
  • May 17th is new member’s night.  Let’s have a big turnout that evening - bring a potential new member.
  • Speaking of new member’s night, it would be in our best interest to start conducting the meetings in a civilized manner.
    • When someone has the floor, give him your attention
    • Please wait to be recognized by the President before speaking
    • Let’s keep the language respectable

Treasurer’s Report: Prior Balance: $ 412.38  New balance: $ 652.38

Correspondence:

  • Thank You from the Westlake Service Dept. for the luncheon we put on for them
  • Announcements: none
  • Committee Reports:

    • 7-card tournament
      • There are 10 tickets left for the tournament
      • The event should raise about $1500
    • Golf League
      • Rich Masciere will be getting together with Bob Maines sometime in Jan. to discuss this year’s golf league.  An email will be going out concerning the meeting so anyone that’s interested can attend and provide input.
    • Reverse Raffle
      • Everything seems to be on track.
      • The one winner side board has about 50 tickets left.
  • Old Business: 
    • The Holiday Party will be held Feb. 6th at P.J. McIntyre’s Irish Pub near Kamms Corner.
    • It will be a cash bar.
    • The cost will be somewhere around $20 per couple.
    • More info to follow.
  • New Business:
    • There was an approved motion to change the drawing format. The drawing will now be only for the members present. The money will be awarded each night.  The current carry over money of $80 will continue to be drawn against the entire membership until it is finally won.
    • By an approved motion, the current budget will go back to the Budget Committee for review.

    Correspondence:

    • WHS seniors requesting donation for after prom events. Motion approved to donation $100.
    • Thank you from Ruth and Bob Duale for proving a ham for the family at the funeral home.
  • Announcements:
    • On Jan. 25th, Westlake Board of Education voted to put an $84 million dollar levy on the May ballot.  The superintendent will discuss the issue at the April 19th meeting.
    • There will not be a Holiday party on Feb. 6th due to the small number of couples signing up.  Art Lerner will investigate holding the event later in the year.
  • Committee Reports:
    • The 7-card stud tournament was a success.  It raised $1454.  The big winner was Jim Vetrovsky.
    • All the tickets for the Reverse Raffles have been distributed. If you have tickets, sell them.  The one-winner side board is sold out.
    • The golf league met and several good ideas were discussed. The league entry fee is remaining the same - $75.  It is planned to have 3 cash prizes a week and a match play event to come out of the $75.  The remainder will be used to pay down the cost of the End-of-Year event that will be held Sept.25th.  This is all subject to change, with more info to follow.
    • As stated by Al Psota, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt this year. The date is March 27th.  As always, candy donations are welcomed.

    Round Table:

    • There was much discussion concerning having someone come and talk to us about the amount of time that should be allotted to school levy presentation.  As it stands, a limit will be put on the presentation.
    • It was brought up that the Town Criers should look into using facebook as a vehicle to keep everyone informed and possibly attract new members.
    • The possibility of getting a dedicated phone line with voice mail only for the Town Criers was also raised.   That would put our name in a phone book.
