MEMBER’S CORNER
- This is the final Newsletter for 2009. In no specific order, here are some high/low-lights of this past year.
- We finished the year with a total of 56 members. Of those 56 there are only 6 who don’t have or have not supplied an e-mail address. Just a reminder for those 6, periodically email messages go out concerning events that you are not getting. If you have an email address send it to me. My email address is richman273@wowway.com
- The Reverse Raffle raised over $8400 for the club.
- The Reverse Raffle was our only fund raiser this year.
- Easter Egg Hunt was a big success. There were so many kids that we had no candy left over.
- Along with several relatives of members, one of our past Presidents, John Lusardo, passed away.
- John Sobolewski was selected as this year’s WTC Man-of-the-Year.
- Bill and Peg Gambrel were selected as Mr. & Mrs. Westlake for 2010.
- This year’s Clam Bake was a big success thanks to the hospitality of Kris & Diane Czinger.
- On average, less than 20 members showed up for each meeting - not a good showing. Hopefully, 2010 will be a better year for participation.
- The $$ carry-over going into 2010 is the lowest it has ever been – around $400.
- The golf league had a successful year thanks to Bill Gambrel and Harry Applegate.
- Don’t forget to pay your dues. Let’s not wait until February to pay them since our cash flow is not in the best of conditions starting the year. If you are mailing your check, please send it to:
- Westlake Town Criers
- Attn: Tom Hirz
- P.O. Box 45224
- Westlake, Ohio 44145
- Our annual Christmas luncheon is on the Dec. 29th at Dover Gardens starting around 1:00.
- At the last meeting of the year, the “state of the club” was once again addressed. Some how, some way we have to start getting younger men to join. Some good ideas were brought up. Hopefully, things can start happening to revive the club.
- The new officers for 2010 are:
- President: Chuck Webster 1st Vice President: John Meno
- 2nd Vice/Sec.: John Bellflower Treasurer: Tom Hirz

A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart. The husband
picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart. 'What do you think
you're doing?' asks the wife.
'They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans,' he replies..
'Put them back, we can't afford them,' demands the wife, and so they
carry on shopping.
A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face
cream and puts it in the basket.
'What do you think you're doing?' asks the husband.
'It’s my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife.
Her husband retorts: 'So does 24 cans of Budweiser & it's half the price.'
On the PA system: 'Cleanup on aisle 25, we have a husband down.'
